Little Black Dresses

One staple in every woman’s closet should be a black dress. Their versatility makes them appropriate for work or a night out. This summer i picked up two black dresses from LOFT and have been able to wear them for many occasions.

I bought this criss cross back dress for a trip to Los Angeles in August. It was perfect for a night on the town and held up well. As a bonus; it includes pockets. What’s not too love?

Another black dress from LOFT that I love is this black ruffle one. I wore this under a pink blazer with some gold hoops to work.

Black dresses are a staple because of how they pair nicely with jewelry, a sweater or shoes. These accessories can dress it up or down.

J. Crew Pleated Skirt

Lately, I've fallen in love with pleated skirts. I've pinned tutorials on Pinterest and bought the fabric, but inserting a zipper scares me every time. Hence the reason I have not finished one. When I saw this in J. Crew I fell in love knowing that since I can't make one, it would be worth the price.  It's been everything I could want in a skirt!

I paired it with a chambray shirt and wore it to work on Friday and received so many compliments! The hot pink and coral is perfect for summer and the fabric is light and airy while still being modest.

Blue and White Lace Shift Dress

I first saw this dress through an Instagram add from Talbots and knew I had to check it out. I origianlly thought I could wear it to work, but it is a little bit too dressy. The navy blue shift dress has a white lace overlay and features a scallop hem.

My manger won an award for a website redesign, so I wore this to the awards ceremony this past week. The event was held in the West Bottoms which made for some great scenery! The West Bottoms were originally an old manufacturing and rail road spot in down town KC. They have evolved and grown since their inception in 1860; and the area is now used for events and antique stores.

Green Tunic

Green is such an exciting color for spring. Its fresh and fun to accessorize with. I scopped up this tunic from Boden last month and am loving it. I've worn it over black leggings to work and with chunky sandals for dinner out.

I've been super busy with work the last four weeks (hence the lack of posts) and decided to treat myself to a new purse with the overtime pay. Coach gave the employees where I work a  discount two weeks ago. I love this marine blue color for spring!  It goes with so many colors and styles.

Spring Florals

I originally got this dress for Easter, but then the weather turned drastically cold and snowed so I changed my mind. I wore it to Uncle George's Surprise 60th party last weekend. My cousin and I had some free time and decided to do a little photo shoot near the Coronado municipal buildings.

The colors work well together for spring and summer. The shift style is comfy and accentuates the print. For dinner that night, I paired a leather jacket with it.

Casey and I found the bench dedicated to our grandparents. My two cousins and I share the middle name of McKinley. We're often called the McKinley Girls!

Stripes for Spring

I first fell in love with this stripe dress from Ann Taylor when I saw it on the website a few weeks ago. When I was out in San Diego last weekend, I knew I had to make a trip to the store to check it out! It is so comfy. I've worn it to coffee with my great uncle and to work for causal Friday. Paired both times with chunky brown sandals.

The bell sleeve adds a nice detail without being too overbearing.

Green for Spring

When I saw this Dress at Ann Taylor, I immediately thought of the Masters Golf Tournament as this is their primary color used in branding. I don't have anything this color, so it is a welcome addition to my closet.

This dress deserved a photoshoot on the beach, so I grabbed my camera and cousin and we hopped in the car to head to Shores Beach (I escaped snowy Kansas to surprise my Uncle for his birthday).

The armpit ruffles and front pleats add unique detail making it fun and playfull for the office or church.
